Concentric Butterfly Valve is a type of butterfly valve with symmetrical design structure and low cost. The valve stem axis of the concentric butterfly valve coincides with the center line of the valve body, and the valve plate is disc-shaped and installed perpendicular to the pipeline axis. The EPDM, FKM, PTFE, NBR are commonly used in butterfly valve.
Working principle
The operating principle of the concentric butterfly valve is based on 90° rotation. When the valve plate rotates around the central axis to be parallel to the pipeline, the valve is in the open state; when it rotates to a vertical position, the valve is closed. The seal relies on the elastic deformation of the valve seat material and fits tightly with the valve plate.
It was featured in:
1.Cost-effective: simple structure, low manufacturing cost, and a cost-effective fluid control solution.
2.Lightweight and flexible: The weight of the same caliber is usually only one-third of that of a gate valve, making installation and maintenance more convenient.
3.Good low-pressure sealing: Especially suitable for water or air media at PN16 and below pressure levels and normal temperature conditions.
But it has own limitation:
1.Large wear: Since the valve plate and the valve seat are always in contact during the opening and closing process, long-term use can easily cause wear on the sealing surface.
2.Limited temperature and pressure resistance: Soft sealing materials (such as rubber) are not suitable for high temperature (>150℃) or high pressure conditions, and are prone to aging and deformation.
3.Not suitable for particle-containing media: Solid particles may scratch the valve seat and affect the sealing effect.
