The Core Function of ETFE Coating

ETFE (ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene) is a high-performance fluoropolymer that is uniformly applied to the butterfly disc surface through an electrostatic spraying process, forming a dense protective layer with a thickness of 0.5~1.2mm. In the ETFE coated disc butterfly valve, the core functions of this coating include:

1. Superior Chemical Corrosion Resistance ETFE coating demonstrates outstanding resistance to a wide spectrum of corrosive media, including 98% sulfuric acid, 37% hydrochloric acid, strong alkalis (such as 50% NaOH), and organic solvents (including acetone and xylene), with a corrosion rate of less than 0.01mm/year. Academic research has confirmed that ECTFE/ETFE coatings provide a protection rate of 99.29% against corrosion, with the outer surface remaining structurally stable even after extended exposure to corrosive environments-5-10.

2. Wide Temperature Range Capability Long-term service temperature range of -40℃ to 150℃, with short-term resistance to 180℃ thermal shock, making it suitable for applications involving extreme temperature fluctuations.

3. Low Permeability The dense molecular structure of ETFE effectively prevents medium penetration, protecting the metal substrate of the butterfly disc from corrosion. Research indicates that while edge corrosion may occur slowly over time, the coating's compact structure maintains excellent barrier performance-5-10.

4. Wear Resistance and Anti-Sticking Properties With a surface friction coefficient as low as 0.3, the ETFE coating reduces adhesion of granular media, extends maintenance cycles, and ensures smooth operation even in abrasive service conditions.

5. Superior Mechanical Strength Compared to PTFE or PP coatings, ETFE offers more than 50% higher mechanical strength, particularly under frequent opening and closing conditions, effectively preventing coating cracking and delamination.
