EPDM seat butterfly valve (ethylene-propylene rubber butterfly valve) is a kind of butterfly valve using EPDM material as a sealing ring. EPDM material has excellent chemical resistance, high temperature resistance and aging resistance, so EPDM butterfly valves are widely used in situations requiring corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and contact with acid and alkaline media.

The difference between EPDM seat butterfly valve and NBR seat butterfly valve

EPDM and NBR may be quite similar in appearance. NBR is a synthetic rubber widely used in dairy, food and hygiene processing services. Although its resistance to acids and weak bases is relatively weak, vegetable oil is within its scope of application. It operates at temperatures ranging from -40°F (-40°C) to 225°F (107°C). In contrast, EPDM shows a wider adaptability over a temperature range. Not only does it perform well in hot water and steam environments, withstanding temperatures up to 275°F (135°C), but it also remains flexible at low temperatures, with a minimum of -55°F. In addition, EPDM has excellent wear resistance and excellent resistance to ozone, sunlight, weather and deionized water. It is worth noting that although EPDM is well tolerated to conventional concentrations of acids, bases and alcohol, it is not suitable for oil-based products and costs slightly more.
